MEDELLÍN
Medellin is the capital of the region of Antioquia, located in a valley surrounded by majestic mountains and is the second largest city in Colombia. Nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” with persistently mild temperatures, is one of the most dynamic and entrepreneurial cities in South America. The Antioqueño or paisa, as the inhabitants of this region are called, has earned a solid reputation as entrepreneurs, friendly, hospitable and also known as great business man. Medellin is a city where there is a perfect blend of ancient and modern tradition.
For example, you can listen to almost any music. There are bars and nightclubs specialized in rock music, jazz, classical music and opera, Caribbean music, soft and tango. The cultural centers of the city reflect the desire of the people of Antioquia go by hand with the movements at the forefront of art. There are excellent libraries and art galleries, museums and parks with sculptures. Several museums tradition of the work of Antioquia artists like Pedro Nel Gomez and Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt is preserved, while at the Museum of Antioquia a complete exposition of modern paintings and sculptures by Fernando Botero, famous Colombian, born Medellin, painter and sculptor performed. The buildings , railway stations , temples , villas and office buildings still preserved in several places of the city with the Republican architecture ” belle époque ” with the architecture of skyscrapers and modern buildings as the Metropolitan Opera and José Maria Córdoba airport.
