REGIÓN DEL PACÍFICO
With its 1300 km long, the Pacific coast is one of the wettest regions of the world, with a rainfall of more than ten thousand cubic millimeters per year. The north, where Baudo Mountains meet the sea, forming bays and inlets, is a jungle area with high biodiversity. The south, flat and furrowed by rivers, is characterized by cliffs and mangrove -fringed beaches. About 50 km from the coast, the islands of Gorgona and Gorgonilla declared a National Park in Colombia, are shelters for wildlife.
Inside, the Pacific region is very diverse. Chocó is a wooded area , but with beautiful beaches like Bahia Solano and Nuquí where tourists can enjoy natural landscapes, some still virgins.
The whales come here every year (between July and October) to reproduce and turtles that live in the wild. Tourists each year come to this region to observe these species and enjoy the beautiful symphonies issued by the whales during their mating.
