SANTA MARTA AND TAYRONA PARK

Santa Marta is located in a privileged location at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, in one of the most beautiful bays of the Atlantic Coast. It is also the starting point for visiting many places of interest; they can start with activities such as sports, archaeological, ecological and adventure tourism. The main resort is “TheRodadero”, ten minutes from Santa Marta. White sand beaches and calm seas suitable for water sports make “The Rodadero” one of the most sought after by tourists. In this area there are many hotels, restaurants, bars and clubs, where you find the joy of Caribbean rhythms. A few minutes by boat from Rodadero you will find the Aquarium and the Maritime Museum, where you can see marine wildlife in its native habitat. La Cienaga Grande from Santa Marta, (the big swamp) is the scene of surreal sunrises and the horizon line is so confusing that observers can not know if they are in heaven or in the sea. Taganga Beach, on the contrary, is famous for its sunsets and where anyone can enjoy its many food stalls on the beach.

The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is home to a unique and complex ecosystem network. They jealously guard the mystery, and the archaeological remains of the Tayrona culture, unique in the world: Pueblito and Ciudad Perdida (Lost City), with their enigmatic terraces and perfectly designed roads. This area is still inhabited by the indigenous Kogi and Arahuacos. The beaches of Tayrona National Park (area of 15,000 hectares, of which 12,000 are land and 3,000 marine), surrounded by lush wilderness, are among the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of the world. Rivers and forests coming down the mountainside are populated by a great variety of unique animals in the world.
